How old should my child be before I let her use makeup?

How old do you think that a child should be before they should be allowed to use makeup? Why are parents worried about their children using makeup?
Tip for best answer: M$1.05

It is unfortunate that young girls, due to the influence of the media and fashion magazines, have learned to use make-up to increase their self-esteem. They think that using make-up will have positive effects on their skin. Young ladies can begin to use make-up at 15 years old. By this time, they are already in the puberty stage. They start being attracted to the opposite sex. The changes in their body allow them to experiment with make-up.

Perhaps, they imitate what they see in the girls’ magazines that they read. The entertainers whom they see on television and film are loaded with make-up and they develop the perception that it is “cool”. When their mothers advise them on make-up, they can understand the degree by which they can apply it.

According to Seventeen magazine, young girls begin to wear make-up as a means of enhancing their facial appearance to increase their self-esteem and self-worth. Girls as early as 7 years of age begin experimenting with blush and lipstick and girls as old as fourteen begin using cosmetics. Often times, parental controls do not affect whether or a girl will use make-up. Girls simply go to school barefaced and then apply make-up as soon as they arrive at school to avoid getting into trouble at home. The same study at Seventeen magazine also found that mothers and fathers who are more supportive of their daughters and allow them to begin with small amounts have more control over the amount of cosmetics their daughters use over time and instill the value of beauty in their girls. Feeling beautiful from the inside is important, but in reality that is not how the real world always works. It is good for your daughter to start with a basic foundation to preserve her young skin from now and maybe some blush. This combination is the safest according to the popular magazine. Eventually your daughter will work towards lipstick and mascara by age 16.

Child should be more than 10 years. but use light shades or just lipstick too. Natural beauty of child always liked by me so must alive natural beauty.
Parents must develop children interests on other things like clothes, fashion accessories if they want to rather than giving them makeup sticks or talking more about makeup.

I personally don't like too much makeup in children's face. Make up in early stage destroys the natural beauty, look and innocency. so avoid doing make up usually below the age of 12 i think.
before than light lipstick, nail plish or something use in low quantity. teengirls like more jewlery and accessories than make up so try to provide than these things so they don't become addict of make up.
Thank you

A few weeks back after watching the kids in the age group 4yrs to 8yrs performing on a stage show with heavy make-up, I asked the teacher that you are exposing these children to danger. But the teacher replied that they are using the kids’ friendly make-up kit. The teacher continued that they are aware about the harmful effects of the make-up on children as it contains chemical stuff.

For example fragrant powders if inhaled can damage the lungs of the children. Lipsticks contain lead. Kids often eat most of their make-up. Studies have shown nail polish and other cosmetic stuff could lead to cancer. The teacher said they are using FDA approved make-up colors like D&C Orange No.5, 10 and 11, D&C Red No. 21, 22, 27 and 28.

I thanked the teacher for their commendable awareness on the use of makeup for kids. Hope this answers your query too.
