how old is the universe?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

NASA's Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), which measures microwave radiation, has estimated the universe to be 13.73 billion years, plus or minus 120 million years.

God could (and I believe did) make the world appear aged; science cannot exclude that possibility.

According to the Wikipedia article on "Age of the Universe," it says, "Current theory and observations suggest that this is between 13.5 and 14 billion years."

So, my guess is 14 billion years!

The observation of background radiation leads current estimates to around 13.6 billion years, except if current string theories ever prove true the universe could be much older. There could have been several big bangs with big collapses until conditions proved correct for the current universe we live in today.
