How often, in matters of right and wrong, is the individual superior to the multitude, which is so easily led by self-advancing demagogues?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

That's a compelling question. If we went with a one person: one vote strategy on everything, we'd have a lot of people voting on things that they know nothing about. Well... *cough*... I guess that's already happening.

Creativity and expert opinions seem to come in small groups. The larger the group, the more diluted the idea becomes.

That doesn't specifically answer your question, I'll be interested to see what else gets posted on this.

Being right or wrong requires a baseline of truth or a standard to which you're being compared.

If you have a standard that exists outside of the mind of the individual (like the Bible for instance, or Rule of Law), then the individual(s) who are closest to the standard will always be superior.

Without the external standard, the mob mentality will always win (War falls into this category for me and Jury decisions).
