How often does Google Earth update their pictures?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

On average, imagery of an area is updated every 1-3 years. Some areas are updated more regularly, others have never been updated.

It all boils down to where you live and how important Google reckons it is that your area is given fresh images. Most urban areas will have been updated at least once since 2005.

The imagery in Google Earth is updated continuously but in any particular area the age of images is usually less than three years old.

It takes months of post processing new imagery before they go on-line so updates usually happen about once every 60 days.

Newer imagery is sometimes available in 'Historical Imagery', which can be enabled from the View menu.
