How often do mahaloans read the full question and description before blankly answering with a copy/paste reply?
is this commonplace? do you get more copy/paste responses than you think are warranted?
open discussion welcomed.

The problem with communicating with others is that we all see the world differently. If we didn't, we would have no need to communicate: something like extrasensory perception would take its place.
The following anecdote is a reminder of how our thoughts, assumptions and perceptions shape our own realities:
A traveller was walking down a road when he met a man from the next town. "Excuse me," he said. "I am hoping to stay in the next town tonight. Can you tell me what the townspeople are like?"
"Well," said the townsman, "how did you find the people in the last town you visited?"
"Oh, they were an irascible bunch. Kept to themselves. Took me for a fool. Over-charged me for what I got. Gave me very poor service."
"Well, then," said the townsman, "you'll find them pretty much the same here."
For the most part try to take what is useful, thank those that help.
Try to recall that critical thinking is purposeful and reflective judgment about what to believe or what to do in response to observations, experience, verbal or written expressions. Not actually to function in a critical fashion.

M$Try leaving them a comment that says something to the effect of, "Thanks for your response, but simply copying and pasting isn't very helpful....". People generally want to succeed, and I think most will appreciate the help.

M$I agree, most answers are original and if there are any that are just cut and paste, they are usually by new members who don't know that you shouldn't do that.
You are right about some people just reading the headline and not reading the rest of the question. I try to read the whole question, but I can see how some people want to jump right in with an answer to the 1st thing they read.

M$The only time I noticed "copy and paste" is when I was going through to vote on "best book recommendations" recently. But you know, I can't blame them. The askers were pretty vague about what kind of book. With several people asking about the same question, it is understandable.
I guess we should try to be understanding. Just let it go for the ones that appear to just "cut and paste away" without much thought
It may be good too try to not be too concerned about it. Try to spend our time more constructively. Repost your question a week or two later, to get a better reply. New people read them, all the time. I've noticed a lot of people who ask 1 question as new members, on one day. Then, they go blank. Maybe some of them will never return...
Or if the little Mahloians are really naughty, I will cut and paste this in (if I have the time and it is an appropriate cute joke)

M$wassy,
although you may think that maholians "Never" read the full question... it is not true and isn't really a full answer to the question.
you can only really speak for yourself. and if you are speaking for yourself, then you should really say so.
i usually read the full question and then all the answers that have been given before i reply. that way i not only know what the full question is, i am also not duplicating and answer that has already been given. sometimes i see the same answer several times to a question, which leads me to believe that they probably did not read the other answers, even if they did read the question.
and btw... since i did read the full question, i would have to wonder if you were actually answering the first question, and saying you never read the full question... which is what i am assuming, or possibly you read the full question and then answered the second and third one... it is not commonplace and you do not get more copy/paste answers...
hmmmm......
which leads to the unhelpful vote... give us more information and i will consider changing my vote.
