How much would you pay for a blog custom made for you?

I'm wondering how much people would be willing to pay to have someone design, code and set up a personal blog for them.
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The bottom line is, you shouldn't be paying for something as simple as a blog. Seriously. There are far too many options out there if you are simply looking for a blog (which as also customizable as far as layout, appearance, etc.) to pay for it. Just my opinion.

Now if you are concerned with the volume of return on the investment, then perhaps putting some funds into the initial startup would be more feasible; however, if you are just going to be writing a blog you might as well get into the groove of writing one up (I have and maintain two of them... They take more work than people think depending on the topics and traffic) before you commit to a price-based solution.

Hope that helps.

For a nice and unique design I would probably pay about 200$

It depends on how the blog would be hosted and it's ability to incorporate other blog related gadgets and services. I would pay more for good design built on an existing stable platform than I would something starting from the ground up. Personally for the first option, I would be willing to pay $200 - $300 for the initial setup only.

If I was only paying for the labor (and not for the domain name, hosting, etc.) and only for the initial setup (not for content) then I would pay $200 for an unoriginal design and more if custom graphics were used.

I would say more, but at this point I think setting up a simple blog is largely cut and paste without a significant amount of new research or difficulty.
If I knew the blog would make money my answer would change significantly.

You are asking the wrong audience. Most people who are answering questions on Mahalo at this point are early adopters, the kind of people who can easily use a free blog hosting service, or even set up a wordpress blog on a paid service. The only possible value add would be graphic design, which a lot of tech people probably undervalue (thus the $200 price tag). If you want to go in the business of setting up blogs, you need to identify a target audience who are more concerned with their own business, and would pay in proportion to the value of the blog to them.

Sorry to say it, but I wouldn't pay a cent for this type of service. It's something that I could easily do on my own.

A good place to get developers to bid on your service is here - http://www.getafreelancer.com/ - you can post your project and freelancers from around world can bid on how much they want to be paid. For a blog I wouldn't go higher then $200, and perhaps $50 for a logo design if you dont already have one.

It really depends on how much customization are we talking about. If it's just change couple words/pictures here and there, probably very little. If we are talking about custom graphics, page layout just for my blog, $200+.
