How much will George W. Bush get per speaking appearance?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

W will get probably $200,000 per speaking appearance. If it is treated as stand-up comedy, with many references to "nukelar", it is worth every penny.

Estimates of speaking fees for President George H.W. Bush have reached $100,000.

President Clinton accepted speaking fees up to $350,000, earning nearly $40 million in speaking fees over the past six years

Before Bush starts counting his money, he should perhaps hope there are speaking engagements to count. There have not yet been any book deals with big fat advances and the future does not seem too rosy on that front, either.

So far, the potential memorialization of a pubic institution for the former President has been limited to the12,000 votes received in San Francisco for renaming their sewage plant after him.

If Karl Rove's $40,000 fees for a speaking appearance are any indication of what George W. Bush can expect, Bush may want to reconsider how he will refill the family's coffers. He should not count on Laura as a big draw, however. She could not fill the room for a Human Rights event last December, although she was still the First Lady at the time.

All in all, I say the odds are pretty good that Joe the Plumber (who is not really a plumber named Joe) will make more money from speaking appearances than our former President, at least in the near future. And, as Bush himself is fond of saying, in the far future we'll all be dead, anyway.

Regardless of the dollar amount, he will be getting too much.
