How much will a new, 3rd Gen iPhone cost for people who have the original iPhone with the original 2 year contract?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

1. 32GB and 16GB storage (up from the current 16GB and 8GB models)
2. $199 and $299 price points to be maintained
3. 3.2-megapixel camera (up from the current 2-megapixel camera)
4. Video-recording and editing capabilities
5. Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
6. Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
7. OLED screen
8. 1.5 times the battery life of the current models
9. Double the RAM and processing power
10. Built-in FM transmitter
11. Apple logo on back will glow
12. Rubber-tread backing
13. Sleeker design
14. Built-in compass
15. The camera, GPS, compass and Google map combined will identify photo and inform about photo locations
16. Turn-by-turn direction
So the iPhone is going to cost the same as the last one ($199-$299) most likely. And I'm almost positive you're going to have to purchase the new contract with the activation fee... and don't forget that $175 cancellation fee.

M$I think you will be forced to make a new contract with the 3rd Gen and keep your old first gen or basically hand in your first gen and then pay an upfront price for the new one.
