That question is pretty much unanswerable. It depends on your current body composition, activity level, and amount (and types) of food you consume.

Dr. Loren Cordain states in his book "The Paleo Diet" that people can lose about 10 pounds a month without changing their exercise habits. But again it depends on your current body composition. You'll lose more if you have more to lose.

The important thing is that changing your diet (not "going on a diet") is a permanent change that you make to improve your health. Short-term benchmarks may make you feel good, but in the long run they don't matter.

Yeah, that's a very good point. I've seen people lose as much as 19lbs in a month on the Paleo Diet, but for people like me who've been doing it for a while, there's really no loss. It's certainly beneficial up-front to have some notion of what's possible, but you're right about that being a short-term benchmark and not really something to focus your diet around.
