How much water do I feed my 8 week old Labradoodle every day?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I have a 9 week old lab and we leave water out all of the time for him, he does urinate every half hour, so we really have to watch him, he is not housebroken yet. You have to make sure that they always have water so they do not become dehydrated and get sick. There is no such thing as too much water!

Like the other posters said, you should just leave some water out and let the puppy take care of the rest.

As for how to take care of the puppy, here is a link to a site that may help you with any other issues with your puppy:

You let it drink as much water as it wants to. It will stop drinking when it has enough.

While you may choose to have set feeding times, clean water should be available at all times for dogs.

I found it helpful when mine were little to pick up the water dish about an hour before bedtime and the last walk of the evening to reduce night time accidents.

I second cprocjr. A dog/puppy cannot and will not drink too much water (except in cases of extreme dehydration when a vet should be consulted).

If you're worried about housebreaking, make sure you watch the puppy constantly and take him out about 30 minutes after he has drank any water. My best advice, tie his leash to your belt. That way, he's always nearby (and in sight), your hands are free, but he still gets to be out.
