How much surface area do the flaps and slats add to the wing surface area on a 777?

Tip for best answer: M$0.37
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

All models of the Boeing 777 have 7 leading edge slats, 7 spoilers, 1 flaperon, 1 inboard flap, 1 outboard flap and one aileron per wing, in addition to one Krieger flap under each wing.

The 777 wing employs a critical airfoil design that is swept back at 31.6 degrees and optimized for cruising at Mach 0.83 (revised upward after flight tests to Mach 0.84).

The 777-200 series has a wingspan of 199 ft 11 in (60.9 m), the 777-200LR 212 ft 7 in (64.8 m), the 777-300 199 ft 11 in (60.9 m), and the 777-300ER 212 ft 7 in (64.8 m).

The surface area devoted to flight control surfaces in each wing, such as slats and flaps, according to the wing schematics for each base model, are:

777-200LR and 777-300ER: 435 square feet
777-200 and 777-300: 408 square feet

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
