How much nuclear energy does Ireland produce? What are the future plans for energy production?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Ireland doesn't produce any nuclear energy at present. The nuclear plant in Sellafield, UK has always been a source of alarm for some Irish people (the risk of explosions / accidents etc.). The debate about nuclear energy, however, has been gathering pace in recent years, and some feel it's now only a matter of time before Ireland introduces nuclear energy.

The ESB (Electricity Supply Board) is the government-backed company and main producer. These links gives a good overview of how they produce their electricity. It has shifted between hydro, turf, coal, oil and gas over the years.
