How much money has entered the Mahalo Answers' system by users?

I'm really curious to if this business model will really work. I like the concept but I'm not sure it viable.
Tip for best answer: M$5.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Don't have exact numbers, but I'm guessing low thousands in week one (like 2-3k).

I offered 2,500 folks from the beta M$5 to spend in the system on Friday afternoon. That will pump $5-10k into the system (if 30-60% of the folks claim the coupon).

We will probably making a metrics page that shows all the stats for everyone (like the spy does for certain activities).

But that's your money in the system. How much has come from users' pockets?

So in that case (at the rate we are going) with all the beta vc do you think my numbers are correct and we will hit a sum combined gross worth of around 25 grand by new years ?

I don't think there will be $25k in the system by New Year, no. I think more like $10-15k. However, who knows... systems like this can grow quickly sometimes.

Haha well, probably not very much.
Not yet, there are not very many members yet since people don't really know about it yet.
I don't even know how to enter money into Mahalo Answers. So, that could be a reason some people just don't know how haha. :) :)

Currently, the system acquires thousands of dollars from members giving tips. But once Yahoo Answers mimic the strategy of Mahalo Answers, I'm sure Mahalo's income will drop because Yahoo is more popular compared to Mahalo.

Mahalo Ceo Jason Calacanis said this past Friday in the comments of Valley Wag Article on Mahalo's Disneyland trip

"Mahalo Answers is off to an amazing start with thousands of dollars in tips moving around"

I am unaware of any other numbers being published.
I suppose a person could count up all of the questions and the number of users, plus the $5 bucks what has been offered, and subtract the no best answers, but that would be a lot of work..

With the amount of users we have currently and the amount of money jason has put into the system himself about 15-25 grand.

EDIT: I would imagine that it will probably hit the 25 thousand dollars range before new years.

So you think $25k of money entered into the system by someone other than Jason / Mahalo?

Well you didn't specify, and since mahaloins are users themselves yes i'm guessing the numbers are in the 1000$ range.
And since jason has put allot of his own money into the system there is still money floating around out there on user's accounts.

And i will stand by my assessment the M$'s total with all users will be around 15-25 grand before the new year.

Now if your talking just end users? , Then that's a whole other ballgame that would be more like 3 - 5 grand so far.
(You have to take into account that some users have some 20 and even 100M$ questions)

PLEASE NOTE: This is the combined sum of all M$'s "Entered into the 'system'"
