How much does a rental car company charge if you lose one of the two sets of keys?

I'm having a hard time finding exact numbers. Hertz says there *might* be a charge.
Here is one complaint saying it was a whopping $133 to replace lost keys with Budget rent a car.

If you did lose them and there is a high cost I would try like heck to get it reduced or lowered by being really nice and letting them know you're a big fan of the service and that you and your family/company have been using them for years. Sometimes if you kill them with kindness you'll get a break.
Ask them if they would please waive it just this one time or consider reducing the charge and that you're really sorry.
Also, if it doesn't work with the same agent you can always try calling back two or three times until you get one with empathy. You catch the right person on the right day you never know what can happen!
Finally, if they didn't disclose the replacement cost you can play hard ball and fight the charge on your card and write a blog post about it and send it to their customer support person and cc the CEO of the company. They might refund the $100 just to take down that one blog post!
Good luck... fight the power!
