Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The largest baby, ever on record was 23.12 lb, born to Anna Bates of Canada in 1879. This is from the Guinness Book of World Records.

Unfortunately, this baby died 11 hours after birth.

The largest living baby was 22 lb 8 oz, in Italy in 1955.

According to the Guinness Book Of World Records the biggest baby ever born was born to Canadian Anna Bates in 1879. This giant baby weighed 23 pounds, 12 ounces. It was already two-feet five-inches when it was born! Unfortunately this baby didn't live past its first day.

The largest healthy baby on record was born to an Italian woman named Carmelina Fedele in 1955. This baby weighed a whopping 22 pounds, 8 ounces.

More recently in 2005, a woman in Brazil gave birth to a boy weighing over 17 pounds (which is the average size of a six-month-old). The birth of this baby the doctors dubbed "giant baby" was not without complications:

"The boy's 38-year-old mother is diabetic, a condition which can commonly cause women to give birth to larger babies. The boy, named Ademilton dos Santos, is receiving oxygen due to breathing problems and is being given an intravenous glucose solution to maintain a safe blood sugar level." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6847721/ns/health-kids_and_parenting/

This baby was the largest ever born in Brazil. After some initial health problems it was report that he was in good health.
