How many ways are there to make chili?
Does Taste of Home offer every conceivable recipe for chili? Where can I find numerous ways to make chili? Can I find chili recipes by how spicy they are?

Chili has been around for a very long time. It basically started out as a peasant stew and San Antonio, Texas claims to be the city that first invented chili. Chili is usually made with some sort of meat, tomatoes, spices and it can have beans or no beans.
There are so may recipes in existence for chili that it is impossible to say how many ways there are to make it. Some people make it with beef, some with pork and some with turkey. Some people insist chili is not chili unless it has beans while others like to leave out the beans.
The first chili dishes were made using meat, oregano, comino, chili peppers and garlic. Because chili is so simple to prepare and can be made very cheaply, it was often served during the Depression. Back then they had "chili shacks" that offered a bowl of chili with some ketchup and crackers for a nickel or dime.
Taste of Home does not offer every conceivable chili recipe, but they do have plenty of them. A sampling of the chili recipes you will find there are Pumpkin Chili, Cheesy Chili, Green Chili and Cajun Chili. There are a ton of chili recipes there for the chili lover to experiment with.
