You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

More than 75,000,000 people visit Florida each year. Additionally more than 350,000 people move to Florida each year.
Florida does not have the oldest population. The last census report from 2008 places Florida as number 4 on the list. The state tied with New Hampshire. In fact, Maine has the oldest population. Other states at the top of the list include Vermont and West Virginia.

How is the BP oil spill expected to affect tourism in Florida?
According to the New York Times, there is some fear that it will affect the tourism industry for Florida. The state, which I'm proud to say I'm a native of, has already been hit hard with a high number of foreclosures and unemployment rates. So tourism is a necessity for many natives.
As of the July 4 weekend, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties have been hit the hardest. There are several health advisories out of Escambia County, including Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, and portions of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Through VisitFlorida.com, vacationers are able to view web cams and real-time photos of the threatened areas. Also, Florida State Parks website has been continually updated the second an impact has changed.
The biggest concern thus far for tourism has been cancelled reservations over the falsity of oil claims and myths. The major focus for the tourism industry is the Panhandle where 90% of tourism revenue is drawn in. So far, hotels and resorts have already seen a 50% cancellation rate. Fortunately, the Keys and South Florida do a huge amount of tourism business in late fall to early spring, which they hope won't be affected the disaster.
