How many race courses are there in Gran Turismo for PlayStation and how do you earn them?

Both Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2 are available for the original PlayStation console, so I wasn't sure which you were referring to.
Gran Turismo has 11 race tracks.
Gran Turismo 2 has 27 race tracks. (Or 28 depending on which site you read. The official site only says "over 20.")
