How many people own a hand held game device (not a mobile phone)?

Thanks all but I'm, looking for data backed by market research.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you consider all iterations of the two most popular, current handhelds (PSP and Nintendo DS), then the sales figures are:
Nintendo DS: 100 Million Worldwide, as of March 6th, 2009
Sony PSP: 50 Million Worldwide, as of February 2009

That doesn't necessarily translate into one per person, but maybe this will give you some idea of the proliferation of these systems.

I have a DS Lite. I love it. I had one of the old Dual screens and I hated it. I couldn't see anything because of the lack of backlight for the screens. Sooo much clearer now.

My favorite games so far have been the Fire Emblem games. A lot like the old Shining Force games. Loves it.

Our household sports four... Two old Gameboy Advanced SPs and two DSs.

The two DS systems are used the most. I think the other two are lost somewhere in a box.

I totally forgot about my Lynx (thanks @cinimod). The BEST hand-held system of it's time!
