How many people decide nominees and winners of the Oscars and what is their average age?

The Academy Awards is one of the most awaited event in Hollywood, wherein the whole world will get to know the real winners of the different awards which range from Best Picture to Best Original Screenplay. The election season for the Academy Awards usually starts during the month of November, four months before the award is handed out.
During this period, movie outfits will do the best they can to have their movie nominated and eventually win the awards this coming March. The winners of the different award categories will be chosen through ballots mailed to the voting members of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in December and should be sent back in January the following year for counting period by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The voting population of the Academy Awards is pegged at close to 6,000, however with regards to their age, it was not specified.
