Unfortunately there is no accurate record of the number of Muslims living in the United States today, one the problems being that the U.S. Census Bureau is not tasked with collecting data related to the respondent’s religious denomination. Other element of the problem is the charge of inflating the numbers by those criticizing Islamic traditions and people on the other side of the controversy, when Muslims accuse their opponents of reducing the actual figures because of a political agenda. Be that as it may, institutions and organizations are not able to produce numbers universally accepted by all parties involved in the analysis of such data.
