I do not know what sort of silver dollar pancakes Aunt Jemima is used to making or thinks we like to make but real people make real sized pancakes and I tell you truthfully this default "off the box" recipe for 12 - 18 pancakes makes 6 and not a flapjack more.
So to answer the question since when I make pancakes I makes them fro two people and the default Aunt Jemima pancake mix recipe from the box is what we use as the standard size and amount of pancakes for one sitting between the two of us..I can eat 3 (which is by the box 6 - 9) and my significant other will eat her 3 (again by the box 6 - 9) as well and we are full.. could not eat another lick of New Hampshire maple syrup or force another slice of kiwi into us, FULL.
* for extra credit I have actually tried to make the pancakes small enough where we might be able to produce the 12 -18 pancakes with that "off the box default recipe" and I was making them bite size.. I mean really small and still had a hard time s t r e t c h i n g the mix into 10 very small pancakes.
I know the people at AJ or Aunt Jemima herself at the pancake mix factory or wherever they are that write this recipe have just not made it like it reads off of the box because I know if they HAD they would certainly change the recipe number of expected pancakes to better reflect the actual amount one gets.
