How many named storms are expected during this year's hurricane season?

Forecasts have been badly wrong for the past few years. What's the consensus of the prognosticators for this season?
Tip for best answer: M$2.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

According to Dr. Lian Xie, professor of marine,2009 should see 11 to 14 named storms forming in the Atlantic basin, which includes the entire Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

2009's numbers are slightly lower than last year's prediction of 13 to 15 named storms,

Nice job on the response. Joe Bastardi happens to be one of my favorite meterologists.
