The Mustang SVT Cobra was built by the Ford Special Vehicle Team in 1980 as a prototype that was highly successful from 1993 to 2004. It was produced in limited quantities and is a high performance version of the Mustang built by Ford. It sits in the model range above the Mustang GT model. All Cobra Rs were available only in vibrant red.
In total, Ford produced 3 models of the Mustang Cobra R. The Cobra R is race oriented, as such, basic features such as air conditioning and stereo system were not offered. The 1993 model had larger brakes, shocks and struts, an engine oil cooler, power steering cooler and a factory rear seat delete. 107 were produced in that year.
A more powerful Cobra R was produced in 1995 with a more powerful engine and fuel capacity. Only 250 of them were built that year. The last Cobra R was built in 2000, with a production run of 300 units.
