That was always my understanding. But quite a few still did.
Good list, from what I know is pages related to some sort of tragedy generally don't have ads on them, out of respect
For the record, I don't SeRPs anymore (which is what these are) and that took me almost an hour! However, I do recall reading something somewhere on Mahalo that "sensitive" SeRPs will not have Google Ads. So I started looking in the News section. Those were all the ones in the Suicide category without ads as well as few disaster ones. You can't just copy and paste though, you have to check.
For example, Shakir Stewart is listed in the Suicide category, but has ads on it, Shakir Stewart Dead did not but Chelsea Smith Suicide did.

You have to look at the bottom of the left column as well as on the main section of the page. Sometimes, the ads seem almost hidden.
Darcy, How did you complete this intensive search so quickly? What did you search on "death notices" and see what popped up?
Now if one was a Mahalo insider (ok a kinda insider since you have written for them in the past) one may know company policy on ads and tragedies. This in turn would help someone do such a search quickly.
