how many layers are in the epidermis?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

"The epidermis is composed of 4-5 layers depending on the region of skin being considered. Those layers in descending order are the cornified layer (stratum corneum), clear/translucent layer (stratum lucidum), granular layer (stratum granulosum), spinous layer (stratum spinosum), and basal/germinal layer (stratum basale/germinativum). The term Malpighian layer (stratum malpighi) refers to both the basal and spinosum layers."
