How many expansion packs are there currently available for the MMORPG World of Warcraft? Which ones should I purchase?

There are currently three expansion packs for the MMORPG game World of Warcraft. They are first Burning Crusades, second Wrath of the Lich King and third Cataclysm. Burning Crusades is $29.99 and Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm are both $39.99. With World of Warcraft expansion packs you have to buy them in order. So you first have to own the game for $19.99 and then you buy the expansion packs in order or they will not work. They are all expanding game play and are all worth paying for if you plan to play World of Warcraft for an extended time but if you're just trying it out I wouldn't buy all the expansions right away because you might end up wasting your money on them.
