Buddhism, via the Tibetan Book of the Dead, says that the soul enters the fetus 49 days after conception. Interestingly, this is exactly when internal sex organs are fully developed and the pineal gland is formed (some people believe the pineal gland is the seat of the soul). There are also passages in the Bible that can be interpreted to support the 49 days after conception notion. Another potential support for the idea is 7 x 7= 49.

Based on this I think that life begins with the first breath.
Breath is the biblical method of beginning life.
Jesus imparts spiritual life on his disciples in John 20:22
"And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit...."

The Soul is fully manifest in the child 3 days after birth.
However to many THIS is a 'loaded question' implying the need or want for a guilt-free abortion.
So if you're asking the latter question:
After conception you have 14 days to abort for after this time Karmic overtones will begin to become evident.
