How long does throat swelling last after mono? Hoping to avoid removing my tonsils...

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Sore throat and enlarged tonsils are common symptoms of mononucleosis. They usually subside within several weeks after onset. Rarely, the tonsils can become enlarged to the point where breathing is obstructed, in which case anti-inflammatory steroids or surgery may be required. In the meantime, rest, fluids, and more rest are the best treatments for mono.
