How long does Suboxone stay in your system after using it.

I have been prescribed Suboxone for nine months and am on 18mg a day. Just want a general idea of how long it stays in your system after I take the last dose.
Tip for best answer: M$0.25

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

First: Please note: I'm not a medical doctore or pharmacist, this if for information only, consult your MD if you need a precise and professional answer!

This is a question about the pharmacokinetic parameters of the drug, according to the definition of this term: "The plasma half-life of a drug (T ½) is the time necessary to halve the plasma concentration, for example to decrease from 100 to 50 mg/L. The knowledge of the half-life is useful for the determination of the frequency of administration of a drug (the number of intakes per day) for obtaining the desired plasma concentration. Generally, the half-life of a particular drug is independent of the dose administered. In certain exceptional cases, it varies with the dose: it can increase or decrease according to, for example, the saturation of a mechanism (elimination, catabolism, binding to plasma proteins etc)." this parameter is the measure of how long it takes to half the quantity of the substance in the blood stream.

The measure employed here is Nanograms per milliliter per hour (ng/mL/hr) of the substance buprenorphine, whis seems to be the active componenet of Suboxone.

in the pdf http://www.suboxone.com/pdfs/SuboxonePI.pdf various results are indicated. The time depends on teh dose that is administered, and the time indicates, that 50% of the substance is absorbed and can not be measured anymore, which means, it will take an other time lapse to reduce by further 50%, ie to reach the 25% level, and then an other time lapse to reach 12,5%, and an additional time lapse to reach 6,25% etc.

Depending on the tests that are available, it could take an VERY long time untilnothing shows up anymore...
