How long does it usually take between a phone being spotted in China and being released in the U.S.?
I'm planning to dump my iPhone (really I want to stop paying AT&T so much) and get an Android phone. I just heard about the Motorola Shole (the Droid without the physical keyboard) being out in China, so I'm wondering how long I should expect before that phone comes west (even making it to Europe is okay, I'm not against importing a phone to use on T-Mobile.)

If you are referring to genuine products/models, 30-45 days. If you are referring to copies, clones, and fakes, maybe never for they cannot pass through customs.
