How long does colored marker "makeup" last on a child?

While the parental units had momentarily left the room, my daughter decided to apply a colored marker around her eyes and neck (I assume after watching mommy putting on her makeup). Any idea how long it will last and/or any safe methods for quicker removal?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

First off... you must take a picture! These situations turn into the stories that you'll love telling later on... trust me!

I went over to Youtube and immediately got confused. There are so many videos with different chemicals to apply. All of the chemicals are too caustic to use anywhere near the eyes. One video (this is for permanent marker) said to apply hair spray and rub it into the skin with your fingers, then clean with soap and water. I figure you can try this in the neck area.

I'd be very careful around the eye area. I can get marker and ink stains off my skin by rubbing... but again, I don't recommend that in the eye area. You can always take a wet wipe / baby wipe and softly wipe near the eyes. I'm sure if you clean her face twice a day and use the wipes, that it won't last longer than a week tops.

Another video recommended using watered down bleach. Ack! Here's the video showing you the hairspray technique. (my apologies for the "bubbly" personality)

"First off... you must take a picture!" I took a few!
In the end, my wife was able to find the proper "makeup removal" compound to do the job properly without guidance from her "facial beautification removal" challenged husband. Thanks for the great advice!

Hi. Why don't you try dabbing some olive oil (apply olive oil to cotton wool first) around the eye area and neck. Then let it soak in, and apply again. When you have done this several times, then try with soft soapy water on cotton pads, to try to remove.I wouldn't try, any thing stronger, as the skin is so delicate. But the olive oil is harmless, and just might work! (We can't turn our backs on kids, even for a second!!) They always find something we never think of:)) (this pic looks like a mahalo flower!

you could try some makeup remover, it should fade in a few days. i'd make sure the next set of markers is water soluble. good luck!
