How long does a tattoo normally take to heal?

What I have heard is a tattoo normally takes about 2 weeks to heal. However I got a tattoo awhile back, a month if not longer and it is still dry and itchy. This leads me to think it’s not healed yet. So I am wondering how long tattoos normally take to heal. Does it depend on the location of the tattoo? Or the size? This one isn’t very big, and it’s on my ankle. I have bigger tattoos that healed in 2 weeks if not a little less. It’s driving me crazy, I apply Aquaphor a few times a day, but it just doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Generally about three weeks, this tattoo should be healed by now though. It certainly does depend on how big it is, and where it is. Also it varies for each person.

They can itch for quite some time after they are healed. If its right by your ankle i can only imagine how bad it itches. In my experience more "cushy" areas don't itch nearly as bad. I don't think you have anything to worry about though, I'm sure its healing fine.

YOU BETTER BE TAKING CARE OF THAT!!

my source has a lot more info on the healing process, you should check it out.

Initial healing is about 5-10 days but complete healing is 45 days. This is how long it takes the skin to regenerate itself after being damaged. I've shared some sources that might be helpful to you. :)

There are times when my older tattoos become dry or itchy too. I don't think it's as uncommon as you may think. Could be the location of the tattoo that is the cause, or if it's newer...it could just be taking longer depending on exposure and such.

I've noticed that with my own tattoos and with those that my friends have, healing time varies a TON!
