How long do you think the United States would be able to fight in Afghanistan? Whats your reason?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The US should get out of Iraq and Afghanistan as quickly as possible. We cannot, and should not, attempt to force a particular form of government down the throats of citizens of other countries. I don't know how the people of the US have tolerated these occupations so long. Rather than continue with military action, the US can work through international aid organizations to further the causes of education, women's rights, health, etc. And perhaps maintain a small presence for intelligence purposes.

With a son-in-law getting ready to leave for his 3rd tour in Iraq, I can understand how the military is unwilling to "lose" another war. But how will we know when we accomplish objectives that were either unknown or unclear from the beginning? If the choices are withdraw and lose or stay indefinitely, it is in the best interests of the US to leave.

Well now that we have a Commander in Chief who is winning prizes for peace, we should be out of there soon, right? I mean he's promoting peace, not war, right?

Maybe the prize will inspire Obama to get moving on his campaign promises to start withdrawing from Iraq within 90 days after being sworn in. Maybe he just doesn't have time to think about it with all the pressing domestic issues. I have not lost faith in him yet, but I think you may have. We'll see.

The United States will be able to fight there until public opinion (to stop the war) gets too strong. There is not much the Taliban can do in a military sense to win the war, other than prolonging it.
