How long do you give a page to see if it makes money, before you abandon it?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

1. After I build a page, I check in on it frequently. Frequent updates with fresh content are important while a page is getting established.
2. Whenever I update a page, I check and record its Google rank. While traffic comes from many places, most of my traffic comes from Google, so its important.
3. After several months, if a page is highly ranked but not earning, I'll evaluate it. It could be that it's a seasonal page (if How to Find a Summer Job was built in September, I wouldn't expect it to start earning until the following March). If seasonality isn't an issue and it's in the top 3 of Google, I'll do some keyword research and then edit the page, making sure I have good quality keywords in the text, deleting irrelevant filler text,, and adding fresh content where needed. If done correctly, this should help get better ads served to the page.
4. After several months, if the page isn't ranked well, I'll evaluate whether or not its worth continuing to try to get the page to rank. Sometimes all it needs is some TLC and promotion- other times I'll decide its not worth the time and effort for me, so I'll drop the page.
There is no one answer to this - in time you'll find an approach that works for you.

M$If your page is not earning, chances are it is not ranking high in search results. To improve this, you can do a few things such as updating the page, adding more content to the page, and promoting it on other websites, blogs, and social media websites.

M$I cannot guarantee that I will keep them...all my life :) It's possible after some years I'll abandon them or keep only the ones which I like most or are the most profitable.
