A Honda Accord is a great used car. Perhaps even the best used car there is. The car will hold its value, as long as you keep the oil changed and the tune-up schedule. I cannot really speak about resale value, as once I bought the four Accords I owned, I drove them until they could not go any more. None of them ran less than 200,000 miles. The first one had fewer than 30K miles on it when I purchased it. The last one I had went only because of a freak accident on the highway. They are bit limited on size, so if you must haul a lot of gear or kids, the Accord may not work for you. But they are about as good a car as you can find.

Honda Accords have the reputation of being a very well made, good quality car, with high safety standards.

Of course, as with any other make of vehicle, how long they last depends a great deal on how well they are maintained and driven.

I did some research on Google and I found a very interesting article on familytram.com which gives a very good overview of the qualities of the popular Honda Accord. I have copied it for your perusal;

"When Consumer Reports made a listing of some of the best family vehicles in many classes, the name Honda Accord cropped up in the discussion. Consumer Reports considered the Accord as one of the leading names for the family when it comes to sedans. The Accord that was redesigned for 2008 was considered by CR as a well-rounded and a roomy sedan that will offer the family with that comfortable ride and highly-responsive handling. The same report forwarded by CR mentioned that the Honda Accord has an excellent driving position and the seats provided for were considered as supportive. This Accord is powered by the four-cylinder engine and this engine is considered as way smoother if compared to the other V6 engines out in the market. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Honda Accord has got it covered as the family sedan is known to offer a respectable 23 mpg.

The publication and others are saying that the fuel economy for this newer model pale in comparison to the fuel economies of the earlier generations of the Accord, but in larger picture the Accord is still good in its class and one suggested sedan for the family. The family can also expect that there will be electronic stability control and this is a standard for all models. The term sedan that can be selected by a family can be considered as a loose term. The term ‘sedan’ can still be divided into a number of categories. Sedans can come as family, upscale, large and luxury. Of course, the family sedan is the one best for the needs of the growing and the large family. These sub-categories of the sedan will boasts of varying comfort and practicality and this should be considered when shopping for the perfect or near-perfect sedan. The sedan is one of the more popular types of automobiles out there.

But why is there too much attention on the sedan? The reasons all go to the perceived comfort and convenience that can be offered by this kind of automobile. Sedans, according to Consumer Reports are known to effectively provide that all-around balance when it comes to handling, performance and comfort. Sedans are also known to give real value in terms of safety, access and fuel economy. Family sedans and the other types of sedans are known too as the better choices for a number of driving situations. But we all know that if you want cargo space, then you may have to look for other automobiles."

It sounds to be a pretty good car doesn't it?

I also looked at edmunds.com, the lnk is below, they also have some very positive things to say about the Accord. All in all, I don't think you would go far wrong if you buy a used model, as long as you check out everything as you would do with any second hand car.
