Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Lord of the Rings series is an incredibly epic book series written by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Lord of the Rings is loved by many. Each story is extremely complex though. Every little detail is important. Everything has a meaning. Only a pure literary genius could comprehend and write such an ingenious series. Each novel has a very complex story. Every novel is even more exciting than the last. New adventures arise with every page. These novels take you on a winding journey through a far away land and time. It is so easy to get lost in the fascinating pages. J.R.R. Tolkien began writing the Lord of the Rings series in the 1930’s. He wrote the series in England. The Lord of the Rings series took him nearly 12 years to write.

J.R.R. Tolkien's first civilian job after World War I was at the Oxford English Dictionary, where he worked mainly on the history and etymology of words of Germanic origin. After working in Leeds for some years in 1925 he returned to Oxford as a Professor of Anglo-Saxon, with a fellowship at Pembroke College.

During his time at Pembroke, Tolkien wrote The Hobbit and the first two volumes of The Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit was written for his children but later published in 1939 as a Children’s book. He intended for the Lord of the Rings to also be a children’s story but the events leading to World War Two and eventually the war itself troubled Tolkien and his epic took a more adult and dark turn. He originally published The Lord of the Rings in three volumes from 1954–1955. It took a total of 12 years to finish his epic. Although it was actually finished in 1949, it took time to create the maps, drawing and appendices for the epic.
