How long can I leave a pint bottle of beer in a freezer before the beer turns to sludge or the bottle explodes?

Beer runs from around 4% to 16% and even higher for special brews. The lower the alcohol the faster it freezes.
The surface area in contact is quite different if you lay the bottle down, or stand it up, or place it among ice cubes.
