The gestation period for a Swordtail is 24 to 40 days (about one month). Midway through pregnancy, the female Swordtail will get a dark spot on her near her anal fin called a "gravid spot." This spot will get larger and darker as the pregnancy progresses. The gravid spot is actually the babies' eyes showing through the stomach. So to answer your question, Swordtail babies eyes appear 12-20 days after the mother becomes pregnant.
