Without being able to give an exact date, I'm going to wait until my current TV breaks down, and I actually don't expect to have to wait that long. I truly expect some 'add-on' to become available for current LCD TVs, which will allow me to watch 3D to some degree without having to fork out $2000+ on a new TV.
More practically, my current LCD is about 2 years old, so I expect that one to last for at least another eight years. I don't plan on replacing it, just to be able to watch 3D movies, however much I like James Cameron's Avatar, and the upcoming Alice in Wonderland movies.
So, to answer your question directly: "Not any time soon".
