Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine caused by the spine growing faster than the rest of the torso. Slight spinal curvatures often grow out on their own and only need to be monitored to ensure that they are doing just that. Severe spinal curvatures require the wearing of a brace for extended periods of time or major surgery to straighten the spine.

Mild cases of scoliosis usually do not need treatment. Your doctor will check the curve of your child’s spine every 4 to 6 months. If the curve gets worse, your child may need to wear a brace until he or she has finished growing. In severe cases, or if bracing doesn't help, your child may need to have surgery.

Yoga is only helpful in easing the symptoms (back pain) associated with scoliosis. Practicing yoga will not help to straighten out a curved spine.
There is no recommended diet for the treatment of scoliosis or its symptoms. If you have scoliosis and you increase your intake of calcium and vitamin D, your condition will not improve. A lack of calcium and vitamin D are not the cause of scoliosis. Increasing your intake of calcium and vitamin D will not cure your scoliosis.
