I give him a B. I'm fine with almost everything he's doing, but he's continuing to tax tobacco up the ying-yang. Bush taxed the mainstream tobacco products so much I got sick of it and started doing the tube-your-own cigarettes, which I actually find quite fun and endearing, but now Obama is attacking that stuff, too. Now, it costs almost $30 per carton of the tube-your-own kind of tobacco. That's pretty ridiculous considering you are having to make them yourself and buying a carton of, let's say, Pall Mall cigarettes is about $40. So, what do you do? Buy them already made or spend the time and effort making your own and save a whopping $10 per carton? I was also very disappointed in his seemingly out-of-touch nature with regards to marijuana reform. He laughed at the notion of legalization, which means I probably won't vote for him next time around, unless Palin's running. Hell, I would vote for Bush for a third term before I would vote for her.

I do like his foreign policy. I know everyone got ticked off when he bowed to the Saudi King, etc. but to be honest you don't get respect unless you give respect, which seems to be a fact lost on many Americans.

I do like the idea that he's going to tackle healthcare reform. He just needs to make sure that he doesn't, in the process, strip away any freedoms we have. It seems more and more of our freedoms are lost each year and it's not a democrat thing or a republican thing, it's just a government thing. Too many people whining about this or that, so they make more and more laws and, the next thing you know, we'll be another North Korea. Gotta watch that!

I love the last 1/2 of your last paragraph. The sad thing about loosing more of our freedom, is that so many people are HAPPY to give them up. Government is usually the problem, not the solution.

I don't smoke, but I do think it is BS that the government feels like smokers should fund every pet project they can think of.

Yes, it does seem that way. I would like to see alcohol take a hit. When was the last time that happened? People die from alcoholic liver disease all the time, but I don't see them getting taxed that much to help out.

PS For anyone out there who feels the way I do and has the motivation, see the link below. I've ordered a pack of tobacco seeds. Apparently there is this whole subculture I was not aware of where people grow, cure, and smoke their own tobacco as a sort of hobby. Also, apparently, tobacco plants are quite beautiful with big red or pink trumpet flowers. I'm definitely going to give it the old college try and see how far I get. I mean, heck, I've already invested a lot of money into a very expensive, very well built tubing machine and the tubes are cheap and plentiful. It's not that I'm poor necessarily, I just hate being taken advantage of and I feel that's what's happening now.
