To clarify - while NBC opted not to renew Medium, CBS has picked it up and the sixth season will begin airing after Ghost Whisperer at 9PM on Friday, September 25th.
In terms of "The Listener", the main character, Toby Logan, is a paramedic who is able to hear people's thoughts, as opposed to Allison DuBois, a research medium who is able to talk to dead people, read minds, foresee events, and witness past events. The premise of both shows is very similar, as both DuBois and Logan use their abilities in situations involving criminal activity.
