How is it possible that lizards can evolve from its cut off tail?

It is a myth that when you cut off a lizard's tail, a new lizard will grow back from that tail. What does happen is, when you cut off a lizard's tail (depending on the type of lizard) it can grow back a new tail, just as you or I grow new fingernails when we cut them.
This new tail grows through a process called "mitosis." Mitosis is the process that creates new cells, which make up every living thing. Simply stated, the cells in a lizard's tail (and area near the tail) know when the tail has been cut off so the cells know when to start multiplying to "grow back" a new tail.
I hope this was the information you were looking for.
