Hi there. Well, the main difference is that in this game, you don't have to fight the enemy alone, you can start your own army of Assassins, called 'The Brotherhood'. Further, there are many smaller differences, like less focus on flag-capturing, feather collecting, and only minor playing time in the current age.
However, the main addition to the game is probably the multiplayer part, which is absolutely new to the genre, and really works very well.
If you didn't like the first Assassin's Creed because there was too little to do, and it quickly became boring, you really should give this one a try, as they crammed the game entirely full with all kinds of stuff to do. You will literally be distracted from the main storyline by all the side-quests, only to find out over an hour later what happened.
