The Greek Revival dominated American architecture during the period 1818-1850. Due to its popularity in all regions of the country, it is also known as the “national style”. The Greek Revival movement became widely accepted throughout the early 19th century in the U.S. as a symbol of the new democracy. The domination is particularly strong throughout the Northeast.
