How is a Harvey Wallbanger made?

I have heard a lot about the drink called a Harvey Wallbanger, but I have never actually had one. We are having drinks at a coming up small cookout and I would like to be able to make these for me and my guest to taste. Hopefully they will taste good enough to drink as well.

Have you ever tried one of these drinks? What do they taste like? How do I make a Harvey Wallbanger?

The Harvey Wallbanger is a cocktail made with vodka, Galliano and orange juice. This is reported to have been invented in 1952 by three-time world champion mixologist Donato Antone the brother-in-law of New York state Senator Carlo Lanzilotti. The Harvey Wallebanger was brought to international prominence by Galliano who was a salesman back then. Legend has it that it was named after a beach surfer from Manhattan who was a regular customer of Duke's Blackwatch Bar on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood in the early 50s.

I haven't tried this one but based on the look of it, it is a very inviting drink!
Here is a recipe that I found:

You will need: 1.25 ounces of Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka
0.25 ounces of hazelnut liquer
3 ounces orange juice
1 slice orange

How to prepare:
Secure a glass and put some ice on it, add Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka and orange juice.
Stir it and float some liquer on top and garnish with orange slice.

Hi @cosmopinkice, I have tasted Harvey Wallbanger cocktail and I love it. It is one of those old time drinks that once you know how to make it, you just don’t forget. My dad though me this recipe, it is easy. Be aware that it is not a kid friendly drink, even though it looks like orange juice.

*Harvey Wallbanger cocktail recipe

INGREDIENTS:

1 oz. Vodka (Seagrams , Smirnoff or any top shelf vodka)
3 - 4 oz. Orange Juice
¼ oz. Galliano (Liquore Galliano L'Autentico)

A Cocktail glass (a collins glass preferably)
Slice of orange (for garnish)

*Next , Pour one ounce of vodka on the ice and add the orange juice

*Pour in the Galliano slowly and Garnish with a thin slice of orange and a straw.

* Serve and Enjoy!
