Is it even worth taking without a prep calculus class?

There are basically two kinds of calculus – the mathematical model taught in a basic calculus class. This calculus is more theoretical and meant to teach students logical thinking. In addition, you will also learn the various rules, exceptions and models that will guide you through the rest of calculus class.
Applied calculus is what is applied to real-life theories and scenarios used by scientists like physicists and engineers. It is simply a more practical branch of calculus.
If you have completely zero background on Calculus, you might want to have some background knowledge of calculus before you try to attempt a calculus based physics class. You will be able to survive – provided you do your own homework on calculus since I’m assuming most of your classmates will have some background in calculus and you do not want to fall behind.
