Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you need to write the essay, will be you be plagiarizing what is written here? You do know, I hope, that if your teacher enters the first couple of sentences (or those that he/she thinks you absolutely couldn't have written by yourself) into a search engine like Google, that it will find the online source of the essay? Teachers usually know their students well enough to detect the borrowed bits, and are very good at tracking down sources. So plagiarism should be ruled out as an option.

What is the context for this essay? While you wait for someone else to do the work (and perhaps not finish in time for you to get credit) you could be actually writing it yourself.

Go to your school, university, or public librarian and ask them to point you in the direction of tools to read and then write this paper. If you want an old-fashioned classical style paper, go to the collection called "The Great Books" (54 volumes of classic texts from Greek philosophers forward) and look in one of the two Syntopicans for the subject matter that interests you, then read the citations they send you to. This is the old fashioned way, of course, but I am sure you'll find many discussions of law and order and individual freedoms there.

Or the librarian may direct you to modern writers/ philosophers who deal with this very subject in their essays or books. And there is Google. I just entered "American individual rights vs law and order" in a search. Here are the results: http://tinyurl.com/24g7dsm

Edward Said

Are you looking for law and order/individual freedom material only from the U.S., or will other nations around the world work as well? You might look to many of the debates to do with Israel and the Palestinians. Some very bright people have written about this. Noam Chomsky, Thomas Friedman, and Edward Said, for example.

Another large area of individual freedoms versus law and order is in women's rights around the world. In the name if civil order the rights of women to move freely, drive, run businesses, and obtain services ahve been quashed in many countries, particularly in the Middle East. Several of the established philosophers I might recommend from my studies years ago dealt with the subject, but for current affairs, I find that activist and writer Wajiha Al-Huwaidar is an author who is writing powerfully about these issues today.

A lot of people write to Mahalo for homework help. Pointing you in a helpful direction so you can do the work and learn from it is the best thing I can do for you. Writing the essay (for $6!) is not doing you a favor. School is where you should be learning, not learning how to have others do your work. You'll come out better in the long run.

I think you'll find that if you really apply yourself to the subject you'll find it very interesting. It isn't easy and you won't probably come up with a cut and dried answer to the issues involved. Law and order and individual liberties always tend to be moving targets, depending on what else happens to be going on in the political and social landscape. So present a good case, make the argument for each, and if you can draw a conclusion that acknowledges the changing face of liberty, then you'll have written a good paper.

Good luck!

Disclaimer: I am not your teacher, and technically, I am not a librarian. I am a web designer and writer (MA, English, 1999, and all but thesis for MA in environmental philosophy) for a university library and would be considered an independent scholar (meaning that when I write a paper on a subject, I do it because it interests me, not because I need to write to satisfy my employer's need for published work from faculty, or because I have to write it for a class.)

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I didn't come back in time to edit in one last suggestion. If you do that same search I suggested above in _Google Scholar_, you get lots more articles that may be closer to your topic. Here are the results: http://tinyurl.com/286bwej . If you drop "American" out of the search here are the results: http://tinyurl.com/3a3zqyv

Well, you just canceled the question, so you'll need to re-write it and be more clear in what you're looking for and post it again. You only asked this yesterday, others might have discovered the question and posted different answers.
