How far can north Korea reach with their nuclear missiles? Can they reach the USA?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Tania Branigan in Beijing wrote a pretty detailed article about this situation in February '09. There seems to be evidence that North Korea is getting ready to test its longest range missile. In the past they have already tested weapons that have had capabilities of reaching the US (BM-25 and Taepodong- 2). Even after an unsuccessful attempt with the Taepodong-2, it is a concern that both of these missiles can reach the Western US. The range of the T2 is 4,160 miles however, it lasted only about a minute in the air before it failed during its last test.

There have been sightings of a train transporting a very large object from a factory with a destination of a launchpad just built on the west coast of North Korea.

The missles North Korea has has now could theoretically reach the USA but they have not successfully launched one that distance yet. They have recently launched a satelite into space which has many concered becase that same rocket platform could easily be converted into an ICBM platform. ICBM's can reach anywhere on the planet.

I don't think N.K. would let you know either...it's their weapon.

North Korea may be a poor country, but it has some of the most developed missile systems in the world.

In March 1993, North Korea test-fired a new missile called Rodong, which could carry either a 1,200kg warhead 1,300km, or a 1,000kg warhead as far as 1,500km - or enough to be able to reach major cities and US bases in Japan.
